- New Boss Update
- New Bosses, Creature Contest Winner & more
- Hello everyone!
- Long time no see, eh? It took a while but we're finally ready to unveil the most exciting Decktamer update to date: the Boss Update!
- New Anomalies Spotted...
- That's right, we've added not 1, not 2 but 5 brand new bosses to the game, effectively doubling the progression!
- These new bosses exist in parallel to the classic bosses, in the sense that you don't need to beat the old ones to unlock the new ones and vice versa. However, they are meant to be slightly more challenging!
- We're not going to go into details about them here (we'd rather keep the surprise) but we do hope you'll have of fun facing them!
- To access them, go to the boss selection menu, and click the arrow to the right of the boss portraits you're familiar with.
- The new bosses all live in their own section of the menu.
- The Masquerade Spider
- Apologies for the delay, but we've finally come around to adding the 3rd creature contest winner!
- With the approval of its creator (congrats on the win @1gamingfox), we've deviated slightly from the original moveset, but we do believe it brings something new and interesting to the game.
- Enjoy finding and taming it!
- The spider uses a very clever hunting technique ;)
- Boss Rush Mode Update
- In case you didn't know, Boss Rush is a Game Mode where the goal is beating all the bosses, one after the other. With a new total of 10 bosses however, it's not really feasible to beat them all (unless you're incredibly skilled), so that's why we decided to give you the options to essentially choose which bosses to fight in the boss rush.
- The new Boss Rush Game Mode is now more flexible:
- After having chosen whether or not you want to randomize the boss order, you will now be taken to the boss selection menu, where you can pick the bosses you're going to fight yourself!
- If you've turned off random order, you will fight the bosses in the order you've selected them on this menu (as shown with the numbers in the portraits)
- Of course you can also select the new bosses
- Alternatively, if you want to stay on your toes, you can click the dice. You can then input a number, and the game will randomly pick that many bosses for you to fight.
- NB: you can pick as little as 2 bosses, but to gain the achievement, you will have to beat at least 4, just like in the good old days!
- Secret Bestiary Section
- We've always wanted to add more well-hidden creatures to Decktamer. However, it wouldn't be fair to ask to collect them all for our bestiary-filling achievements.
- That's why we came up with a new solution: the secret bestiary section. Any secret creature will be recorded in that section and completing that section is not required to get the achievements.
- As a matter of fact, we've already moved one of the harder creatures to find into that section. But did we actually add any new stuff in there in this update? Guess you'll have to find out...
- The 'Unique Findings' section is not visible unless you found a secret creature
- Updated Spanish and Portuguese translations
- Due to a mistake on our end, Spanish and Portuguese, though officially supported according to the store page, were missing translations since the new creatures update. The game is now back to being fully translated to those languages and will remain that way from now on! We apologize for the inconvenience.
- Other Changes
- The moves 'Black Hole' and 'Malediction' have been nerfed to be limited use 3 instead of infinite use.
- The boss icons in the run history menu have been updated to an inky style that better fits the rest of the menu
- Attempted to fix event RNG bug
- Various miscellaneous bug fixes
- Conclusion
- What a journey that was... This update was definitely one of the more challenging one to develop, but we hope the results will be worth it. In any case we're open to small balancing changes for these new bosses if needed so let us know what you think!
- And as we're getting closer and closer to the end of the roadmap, we hope that you'll continue to enjoy the game!
- See ya!
