- Update v1.422:
- We’ve just released update version 1.4.2. called "Plugin Support"!
- For most players, this update won’t introduce many noticeable visual or gameplay changes. It mainly includes bug fixes based on player reports.
- However, behind the scenes, we’ve made some major improvements.
- Firstly, it is faster loading times. The game now loads 40–50% faster thanks to reworked script loading. Scripts are now processed in batches, significantly improving loading performance.
- Secondly, we expanded modding capabilities and this is a game changer!
- Until now, modding in Imperiums worked in two ways:
- Standalone Mods – Fully custom games built from scratch (very powerful but rarely used due to the massive workload).
- Prototyped Mods – Mods that extend existing game mechanics (used in all Steam Workshop mods and our DLCs as well). Now, we’re introducing a third, much more flexible and easy-to-use option: Plugins!
- Plugins allow you to modify any loaded mod without being tied to a specific one. Want to change leader illustrations, UI textures, music, unit actions, or even add animals running across the map? You can do all of that now - quickly and easily.
- Why we focused on adding plugins?
- Lowering the barrier for modders – We know our modding community is very small, but we wanted to make it easier to create small, universal tweaks without the complexity of full modding. This has always been something we wanted to address at some point.
- The game was released four years ago (time flies! :)), but as we’ve started working on a new game - one that builds upon the best aspects of the existing game - we also plan to bring some very important new features back to Imperiums: Greek Wars. In other words, support for Imperiums: Greek Wars is far from over.
- We are about to release a "DLC" called Supporter's Edition which uses this "plugin" technique. However, this is not a typical DLC as you might expect from us, since it does not introduce any new mechanics or a campaign.
- Instead, it offers some nice extras, such as 4K wallpapers, a special intro music track, and unique in-game decorations - meant for our dedicated players who wish to support us in this way. We truly appreciate any kind of support from you.
