    36.       It's  the  summer  of  1943,  and  the  Kursk  salient   marks  the
    37.       westernmost point the Red Army  managed to  take and  hold  in  the
    38.       winter campaign. When that white-knuckle struggle  finally subsided
    39.       in March, both  sides were  too exhausted  for  decisive  strategic
    40.       action.  The  Soviets,  anticipating  a  German  attack    in  this
    41.       direction,  turned  to defensive  preparations and  a  build-up  of
    42.       mechanized troops, artillery  shells, and  strategic  reserves.  By
    43.       July, they were ready to meet the vaunted German  panzers  head-on.
    44.       Kursk DLC covers not only the legendary tank  engagements  such  as
    45.       Prokhorovka, Kutuzov, and Ruymantsev, but it also dives  deep  into
    46.       lesser-known battles of the 1943 Soviet campaign.  Battles  on  the
    47.       Mius,  around  Smolensk, and  along the  Black Sea  coast  are  all
    48.       featured, ending in a  string of  do-or-die actions  to  reach  the
    49.       Dnieper crossings.
