1. August Update
  2.
  3. Good morning Innkeepers!
  4.
  5. Today’s patch brings a new system to handle networking desyncs, some great quality of life improvements that we’ve received feedback on and seen come up in streams, and an impactful tweak to the difficulty of the early game.

  7. Networking Improvements
  8. Item desync detection and rollback
  9. A new system detects and corrects item desyncs between host and clients that could happen in rare circumstances when throwing items and using tables at the same time.

  11. Quality of Life improvements
  12. Improved player movement when sprinting
  13. Slide time when changing directions when sprinting is reduced from 0.25 seconds to 0.05 seconds.
  14. Feedback received from players was that the slide when turning between directions too sharply was too punishing and gave the game a feeling of being too floaty. This change gives a drastic improvement in responsiveness and feel.
  15. Default Companion Wheel behaviour changed to Held instead of Toggle
  16. The default setting for how the Companion and Emoji wheels behave is now that holding the button down once allows you to choose between options and releasing the button activates them, rather than requiring two button presses.
  17. This change to default behaviour will only affect new save games, to avoid changing the controls on players who are used to the other method.
  18. Changing between these two modes remains in the Options screen where it was always available (but player requests for this feature and low uptake in switching implies players didn’t know to look for it).

  20. Difficulty Changes
  21. Fire elementals moved to later in the game
  22. Fire Elementals now appear for the first time on Day 13 Morning.
  23. Fire Elementals previously appeared in Day 6 Afternoon, however feedback suggests too many elements were being introduced too quickly and the game’s difficulty curve suffers for it. This change should take pressure off the early game.
  24. There was one instance of a Trenchcoat Monster appearing in one particular level when playing with 3 or 4 players during that period. That was a mistake from a very over-eager Trenchie and they were redirected to their proper spot much later in the game.
