    54.                   city in downtown St Louis, along the Mississippi River
    55.                   He was curious as to who these people were, how they
    56.                   ended up there, and what life was like for them each day
    57.                   So for a few weeks he spent nearly everyday at the tent
    58.                   city volunteering and getting to know people He began to
    59.                   think that this place and the people living there could
    60.                   make a great story and he asked them if he could shoot
    61.                   some video, and they said "okay" He initially thought he
    62.                   would simply go down during the day and capture footage
    63.                   when possible, but he quickly realized that if he wanted
    64.                   to truly capture how these people lived and the full
    65.                   reality of their collective and individual existence, he
    66.                   would have to be there full time and become a part of
    67.                   the place, so he moved in with them He was intrigued at
    68.                   how tent city was populated by so many people of
    69.                   different races and ages and beliefs, but they all had
    70.                   to learn how to live together in order to maintain the
    71.                   existence of their homes Right away he learned that an
    72.                   overall feeling among every resident was that they
    73.                   preferred living there over a homeless shelter, and he
    74.                   wondered if this could possibly be a good alternative
    75.                   for homeless people Some of the residents had jobs, had
    76.                   cars, were in relationships, and this was their home It
    77.                   was just a different type of home
